GLOBAL ONE NEWS (G1) — At least two people have died and more than a dozen injured after a fire ripped through a major shopping center in Bangkok.
On Wednesday, April 10, thick smoke billowed out of the Central World shopping mall.
The mall — located in one of the Thai capital’s busiest areas — is part of a complex that includes a hotel and a convention center.
Local media reported one of those who died jumped out of a mall window, while at least 17 are reported injured and hospitalized.
The cause of the fire is still unclear.
However, initial reports said it started in a room full of documents on the mall’s eighth floor. Some witnesses reportedly said fire escapes were blocked. None of these reports have been confirmed, so far.
Bangkok officials, meanwhile, put the building on lockdown while investigations are ongoing.
