GLOBAL ONE NEWS — A fire has ripped through an office building in Bangladesh, leaving 25 people dead and dozens more injured.

Video footage showed scores of people panicking in the middle of the rescue operation after the fire ravaged a 19-story building in the capital city of Dhaka, Thursday, March 28.

Of the 25 killed, six people reportedly tried to escape by jumping out of the F.R. Tower.

Over 20 firefighting units backed by air force were dispatched to extinguish the fire.

An official confirmed more than 100 people had been rescued.

Rescue operations continue as dozens of people are believed to be trapped inside the building.

What caused the fire remains unclear, but recent similar incidents have been blamed to faulty and insufficient fire safety measures.

Just in February, nearly 80 people were killed after a fire engulfed the capital’s old quarter.
