Global One (G1)— Are you willing to pay somebody to shower you with compliments? If your answer is yes, then this report is for you.

In China, internet users are reportedly paying to join chat groups called “kuakuaqun” or “praising groups” on social media like WeChat in exchange for praises.

CNBC reported one of those read like, “One can be very happy by himself. And you have us here.”

Users start by choosing their desired group. They will pay at least 15 yuan ($2) for three minutes of interaction.

After the transaction, users will be sent an invitation to join a group where they will be showered with compliments.

While some people online called it “insane,” a group administrator said the purpose of the trend is “to make us learn to praise others and accept others’ praise confidently.”
