Global One (G1)— A devastating scene in Southern California after a small plane piloted by a retired police officer crashes into a home killing five people.
The Cessna came crashing down Sunday, Feb. 3 just minutes after taking off from a nearby local airport.
Witnesses say the plane came apart and caught fire in the air before slamming into a home killing four of the six people inside.
The other two inside were injured.
Seventy-five-year-old Antonio Pastini is one of the five people who died in the fiery scene.
Witnesses say they heard an eerie whistling sound before the home exploded into flames.
One resident told the LA Times. “It was a boom. It sounded like something exploded. It shook our house.”
Panicked neighbors rushed to the burning home, dousing burning debris on the street with water from garden hoses.
The cause of the accident is under investigation and everything from the pilot’s medical history to weather to maintenance reports are being looked at closely.
