Global One (G1)— Investigators say images of the plane that crashed with Argentinian soccer player Emiliano Sala aboard show a body in the wreckage.
The plane had disappeared two weeks ago when it was carrying the 28-year-old forward from his old team in Nantes to his new one in Cardiff.
The U.K.’s Air Accidents Investigation Branch said, “Tragically, in video footage from the (remotely operated vehicle), one occupant is visible amidst the wreckage.”
After the plane’s wreckage was found, Sala’s father said, “This is a dream. A bad dream. I am desperate.”
The initial search had been called off after three days due to weather conditions, but Sala’s family was able to crowdfund a new search.
Several soccer players reportedly donated to their efforts.
Meanwhile, both Nantes and Cardiff held tributes for the player last week.
Cardiff’s manager said the week was “by far the most difficult week in my career by an absolute mile.”
