Global One News (G1) It’s being called the largest fentanyl drug bust in U.S. history — 254 pounds of the drug was found hidden in a truck carrying cucumbers.

The total value — $3.5 million.

The bust happened on the Mexico – US border at the Port of Nogales in Arizona recently.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Juan Antonio Torres- Barraza, was arrested after he went through a secondary inspection and an x-ray found hidden compartments in the truck.

Inside those spaces, authorities say they also found 650 pounds of methamphetamine worth about $1.1 million.

This bust is more than twice the size of a previous record-setting find of 118 pounds which was found in a truck in Nebraska in 2017.

Fentanyl is reportedly to blame for thousands of deaths in the U.S. every year.

In 2017, more than 28,000 overdose deaths in the U.S. were a result of fentanyl overdoses.
