GLOBAL ONE NEWS (G1) — An actor from the popular Fox TV show “Empire” may have been the victim of a hate crime.

Thirty-five-year-old Jussie Smollet was attacked in Chicago as he walked back to an apartment around 2 a.m. Jan. 29.

According to police, two masked suspects yelled racist and homophobic slurs at the actor; hit him in the face and then poured a substance thought to be bleach on him.

They also reportedly placed a rope around Smollet’s neck and yelled: “This is MAGA country.”

The executive producer of “Empire” Lee Daniels spoke out on the attack.

[Lee Daniels]: “You didn’t deserve nor anybody deserves to have a noose put around your neck; to have bleach thrown on you. To be called ‘die f—, n—-.”

Meanwhile police Wednesday tweeted out several photos of “potential persons of interest.”

The FBI is also looking into a threatening letter sent to the actor at the offices of “Empire” Jan. 22.
