Global One (G1)— A Premier League soccer player was reportedly one of the two people aboard a plane that went missing over the U.K.’s Channel Islands on Jan. 21.
Police say 28-year-old Argentinian striker Emiliano Sala was traveling from his former team in Nantes, France to his new one in Cardiff in the U.K. when the small plane disappeared.
The chief officer for Channel Islands Air Search said the likelihood of finding either of the plane’s passengers alive was “reducing very rapidly.”
Sala had recently joined Cardiff from Nantes and was headed there to join his new club.
The plane was scheduled to land in Cardiff the evening of Jan. 21, but never made it.
The new signee had been excited to join Cardiff and said he couldn’t wait to “start training and get down to work.”
Sala’s last tweet was a picture of he and his Nantes teammates with the caption “the last goodbye.”
