Global One News (G1) – It’s a seal invasion — for real!

In a small Canadian town, residents are seeing seals everywhere from backyards, driveways, parking lots — even their doorways.

Dozens of seals have become stranded in Roddickton-Bide Arm, Newfoundland after nearby waters froze last week.

The seals are stuck — unable to enter the ocean and they’re wandering aimlessly.

At least two seals have been killed by cars after they wandered onto busy roads.

Experts say the bay froze over so quick it may have disorientated the animals and caused them to move inland instead of toward open waters.

Town officials have called on the federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans for help asking wildlife officials to help move the animals back to the ocean.

But for now — they’re just letting the “situation play out” with the hope the animals will find their way home.

Mayor Sheila Fitzgerald is worried saying “If they could find their way out, they would have found their way already.”
