Global One (G1)— Police were called to a home in Perth, Australia on Jan. 1 after they were alerted to a man yelling death threats to an unknown intruder — only to discover a man with a serious fear of spiders.
Witnesses had reportedly heard a man repeatedly yelling “Why don’t you die” and heard a screaming toddler in the background — so naturally, they called the police.
When the police arrived, they discovered a homeowner trying to rid his house of an unwanted visitor.
That visitor? A spider — and the unidentified man wanted it dead.
The police tweeted there no injuries, “except to the spider.”
According to the man’s wife, he has a serious fear of spiders.
A police spokesperson said, “We are very pleased the incident turned out to be something completely different to what was expected.”
It’s unclear what species of spider the man found in his home, but Australia is reportedly home to some of the world’s most venomous arachnids.
