Global One (G1)— The first major candidate has officially entered the race to become the Democratic Party nominee for the 2020 U.S. presidential elections.
Senator Elizabeth Warren from Massachusetts reportedly sent her supporters an email saying she will be forming an exploratory committee for her presidential campaign.
The senator who has been in office since 2013 also released a video on her website.
An exploratory committee allows candidates to hire campaign staffers and raise money.
Warren wrote, “I never in a zillion years thought I was going to run for office – any office.”
In her video, she says, “I’ve spent my career getting to the bottom of why America’s promise works for some families, but others, who work just as hard, slip through the cracks into disaster.”
The Democratic primary — which will formally begin with the Iowa caucus in 13 months — is reportedly expected to be the most wide-open race in almost 30 years.
