Global One (G1)— U.S. President Donald Trump announced his pick for his next ambassador to the United Nations — current State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert.

Nauert will replace the current ambassador, Nikki Haley, who has announced she is stepping down from her role at the year’s end.

Trump said of his nominee, “She’s very talented, very smart, very quick, and I think she’s going to be respected by all, so Heather Nauert will be nominated for the ambassador to the United Nations.”

Nauert still needs to be confirmed by the Senate.

Although she is currently at the State Department, Nauert has no government experience prior to April 2017.

Before joining the State Department, Nauert was a host on Fox News’ “Fox and Friends” show and had worked for the network since 1996.

She is known as a strong Trump supporter, both at Fox and at the State Department.

Haley’s departure reportedly surprised the White House, but the former governor of South Carolina said she needed a break.
