GLOBAL ONE NEWS (G1)—After almost eight decades, the classic animated tale “Pinocchio” is in the works for a live-action adaptation — with Tom Hanks eyed to play Geppetto’s role.

The Oscar-winning actor is reportedly in talks with producers whether he would carve and create Pinocchio in real life in the film.

Geppetto is a woodcarver in the 1940 Disney classic and later becomes Pinocchio’s father.

The tale tells a story about a living puppet who proves himself worthy to a fairy so that he would become a real boy. He is guided with a cricket who plays as his conscience.

Variety reported the “Paddington” filmmaker Paul King is set to direct the film.

The film has no release date for now and yet some fans already approve of Tom Hanks to play the fatherly figure.

One said, “This is a good choice.”
