GLOBAL ONE NEWS (G1)—The Meralco Bolts of the Philippines had to settle for fourth place at the FIBA Asia Champions Cup in  Nonthaburi, Thailand on Oct. 2.

They lost a tough one to South Korea’s SK Knights 91-87 in a battle for the bronze medal.

South Korea used a balanced inside and outside scoring attack to rattle the Philippines squad in the first half.

The Knights knocked down three’s.

They scored in transition off fastbreak opportunities for easy buckets.

By halftime, the Seoul team led by eight.

But in the third quarter, the Meralco Bolts stormed back off a flurry of threes to take the lead.

It was Diamond Stone and Allen Durham who paved the way for the comeback, finishing with 32 points and 21 points, respectively.

In the end, however, South Korea’s outside game was too much as they hit three after three to seal the win.

KG Canaleta — a Philippine native — scored 15 points.

The Meralco Bolts ended the tournament with a 1-4 record.
