GLOBAL ONE NEWS (G1)— A woman was blinded in her right eye after a golf accident Sept. 28.
Forty-nine-year-old Corine Remande of Egypt was in France watching the Ryder Cup when she was struck in the face by a golf ball, causing her eye to explode.
Twenty-year-old American golfer Brooks Koepka hit the wayward drive.
Koepka said, “It will definitely be the one shot I regret in my career. Yesterday was probably one of the worst days of my life.”
The golfer said he is trying to speak to the victim and her family personally.
Remande is reportedly planning to take legal action against the Ryder Cup, believing they did not provide enough of a warning about the dangers on the course.
A Ryder Cup spokesperson said the word “fore” was said multiple times after the shot, but they understand how it can be challenging for spectators to know exactly where the ball will be coming from.
The European Tour said they will offer support to Remande and her family.
