UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL — Captain Jean-Luc Picard once said, “Things are only impossible until they are not.”
Well, the fans of the Star Trek character are probably believing that now.
On August 4, Patrick Stewart — who portrays the beloved captain — announced at a Star Trek convention in Las Vegas, he will reprise the role of Picard in CBS All Access’ upcoming new series “Star Trek: Discovery.”
It’s been 16 years since Stewart last stepped into the role.
Stewart said he’s humbled to hear stories from fans about how the show has brought comfort into their lives, with one fan telling him this:
[Stewart]: “Your show changed my life … without Star Trek: The Next Generation, I might not be here.”
The actor also released a statement on Twitter, saying he’s excited to work with the team as they bring a “fresh, unexpected, and pertinent story to life once more.”
