United News International (UNI)- It’s always suspicious if a roast chicken flies, and now we know why.

A New Jersey woman was caught attempting to smuggle nearly 10 pounds of heroin on a flight from Mexico City back to New York City in packages resembling roasted chickens Friday, July 13.

Sixty-one-year-old Emma Soriano was arrested after TSA agents at the JFK airport inspected her bags and found roughly $300,000 worth of heroin.

The heroin was wrapped in foil, and on first glance was thought to be roasted chickens in the woman’s luggage.

Upon finding the Schedule 1 drug, Soriano was taken into custody where her case was handed over to Homeland Security Investigations.

The New Jersey woman faces narcotics charges and will be prosecuted by New York’s Eastern District.

It was unclear if Soriano had an attorney at the time.
