UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) – Former Australian Football League player Brian Lake was arrested in Japan over the weekend following an alleged bar incident.

Lake, who now plays in the AFL Asia League, said he was celebrating a win for the Indonesian Volcanoes in Osaka when he was arrested.

The alleged incident, which took place in the early hours on Sunday, July 8, was reportedly alcohol fueled.

According to Japanese law, Lake can be held for up to 23 days without charge.

Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade said on Monday, it is willing to help if needed.

Meanwhile, Lake’s manager says Lake is “assisting the authorities with their inquiries.”

This, however, is not the first time Lake has been in trouble with the police. He was also detained following a drunken incident in 2013 when he played for Hawthorn Football Club.
