UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — IKEA says it will only use renewable and recycled materials by 2030 in a bid to reduce its impact on the environment.

In a statement on June 7, the owner of the Scandinavian furniture retailer said the company is committed to reducing the climate impact of each of its products by more than two thirds.

The company wants to become a climate and planet-positive business by the end of the next decade and plans to get there by investing in greener supply chains and inspiring others to live sustainable lifestyles.

According to IKEA’s website, it wants to “inspire and enable more than 1 billion people to live a better everyday life within the limits of the planet.”

Meanwhile, IKEA also has a short-term goal of phasing out all single-use plastic products from its stores and restaurants by 2020 and ensure its home delivery vehicles are zero emission as standard by 2025.
