UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — North Korea has reportedly begun dismantling its only known nuclear test site.

Satellite images, taken on May 7th, are “the first definitive evidence that dismantlement of the test site was already well underway”, according to 38 North, a website run by former US diplomats.

The Punggye-ri site lies deep within mountains and was used for all of the North’s six nuclear tests.

Kim promised to close the site after the historic meeting with South Korean President Moon Jae-in last month.

The North’s leader appears to be keeping his word.

For United News International in Tokyo, I’m Jungsil Kim.
