UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — North Korea is casting doubt on next month’s historic US-N.Korean summit over joint Air Force drills taking place in South Korea, which it says are ruining the diplomatic mood.
Pyongyang has cancelled high-level talks with South Korea scheduled for Wednesday May 16th because of the South’s joint military exercises with the US.
North Korea’s official news agency reported that the exercises were a provocation and a rehearsal for an invasion.
It also warned the US that the highly anticipated US-N.Korean summit scheduled for June 12th in Singapore may be canceled.
The US state department said it was continuing to prepare for the Trump-Kim meeting and that it was not aware of any changes in Pyongyang’s position.
