UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — Eleven Russian athletes have received a lifetime ban for doping.

The International Olympic Committee released the list of 11 names, from five sports, on Dec. 22.

Tatyana Ivanova and Albert Demchenko, who both won luge silver medals in Sochi, 2014, are among those to have been banned. As well as, Ivan Skobrev, who won speedskating medals in Vancouver, 2010.

The IOC said the named athletes will be stripped of their medals and banned from all future Olympics.

This news follows on from earlier this month, when Russia was banned from next year’s Winter Games for what the IOC described as the “systemic manipulation of the anti-doping system.” The world Anti-Doping-Agency confirmed a widespread of doping among Russian athletes and that the doping system was manipulated for Russian athletes in Sochi, 2014.

However, Russian athletes who have a clean history can compete in Pyeongchang as a neutral.
